About the event
Join us on August 27th from 2-5pm for a late lunch event filled with meaningful discussions and empowering insights. The Open Prayer Circle for Gainesville children and parents will kick off the event, fostering a sense of unity and support. The Alachua County Black History Task Force proudly presents Kali Blount as our keynote speaker, sharing his profound knowledge on black history.
Our youth panel will captivate you with engaging storytelling sessions, shedding light on fascinating black history and herstory facts. Prepare to be inspired by NaLaud, the Florida Chess Champion and Poet, as he highlights the importance of chess and art in shaping young minds.
Frances Williams, a retired teacher in sociology, will delve into the topic of building self-esteem and its connection to black history/herstory. Gain valuable insights into combating bullying and gun violence from Moms Demand Action - Alachua County.
Our second youth panel will share their current experiences in school related to bullying and gun violence, providing a platform for meaningful dialogue. Lena Gillis will address the crucial topics of mental health, emotional literacy, and achieving P.E.A.C.E. in our lives.
Join us for an event that combines education, empowerment, and community involvement as we come together to celebrate black history and inspire positive change.
Our goal: Launch the Freedom School starting September. 2023 in partnership with Universal Unitarian Church
