About the event
We know that Gainesville is better when Gainesville is local. Come out on Friday night, September 13th, to kickoff the YES for Local Public Utilities campaign to restore home rule for GRU and keep Gainesville local.
In November we need to vote “YES” to take GRU back from the Governor’s office, who took it from our local community with no oversight and no vote from the residents of Gainesville.
The fight to keep GRU in the hands of local residents is being fought by a coalition of local community groups, including the NAACP, the League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club, the AFL-CIO, Gainesville Residents United, the Alachua County Democratic Party and the Alachua County Labor Coalition.
Meet the coalition partners, supporters, and raise money for “Let the Voters Decide”, the campaign working to fight back against the state takeover of GRU.

Hear from "The Weeds of Eden" at 6:00, followed by live music from Gainesville’s own band the Lowly Worm, playing hits from local Gainesville bands like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Against Me!
