About the event
Anna Pauline "Pauli" Murray was an American civil rights activist, legal scholar, writer, and the first African American woman ordained as an Episcopal priest. A pioneering advocate for racial and gender equality, she coined the term "Jane Crow" to describe sex discrimination, co-founded the National Organization for Women, and influenced landmark cases like Reed v. Reed. Her book States’ Laws on Race and Color was deemed the civil rights movement’s “bible” by Thurgood Marshall.
