Generations of systemic racism have resulted in Black communities bearing the brunt of America’s gun violence epidemic. During Black History Month, we honor the resilience and innovation of leaders who have carried the Black community through generations of systemic inequities and violence working to stop gun violence through both grassroots and national channels.
This Black History Month prompts us to dive deeper into the causes and risk factors that perpetuate this public health crisis while encouraging us to work with leaders at all levels—from the grassroots level to boardrooms to develop and implement life-saving, community driven solutions to end gun violence. The Everytown Support Fund is dedicated to holding space for the Black survivors of gun violence and recognizing the gun safety advocates leading the charge at all levels to keep communities safe. Each week, Everytown will produce different forms of content related to the five themes of the month.
- Week One: Black Resilience
- Week Two: Black Courage
- Week Three: Black Innovation
- Week Four: Black Joy
- Week Five: Black Hope for the Future
Be sure to check this webpage throughout the month for updates and great content!
In solidarity,
